Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She is the author of fifteen books, and she is co-founder the magazine The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington has been an actor, journalist as well as a philanthropist, author and journalist for more than ten years. She is also the proprietor of The Huffington Post, an independent, liberal online newsmagazine. Her move to Greece to England when she was 16 years old, and received an MA from Cambridge University in Economics. The first ever foreign-born student to serve as president in the famous debate club The Cambridge Union, at 21 years old she took on the role. Following graduation, she left her mark as a conservative syndicated columnist as well as with the introduction of The Huffington Post' few years later, she developed an online voice platform that gave critical opinions regarding the state of affairs. Arianna became famous after she decided in 2003 to become an Independent Candidate for the California Recall Election to replace former Governor Davis. Aside from that, Arianna was also the leader of the Detroit campaign to encourage fuel-efficient cars. In 2009 she was recognized by Forbes as The most influential women in the media, achieving 12th position on their listing and the following year, the Guardian listed her on the top 100 media list. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post, and she was made president of the media company. This included many AOL properties at that time, including Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli has two siblings, Konstantinos Stasinopoulos and Elli, who are both journalist and management consultants. They were very close to her father. However, it was her relationship with her mother who shaped her. At an early age, she showed leadership abilities that are still highly regarded. When she was in her 16th year she moved to Britain to pursue her studies and was enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. In the years of her university she was a member of the Cambridge Union debating group where she was elected the first woman president, and also the only president from outside the country. In 1972, she graduated with a Masters in Economics. She worked as a critic, a TV host as well as a columnist following her graduation. She also appeared in the show Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books with editorial assistance from Bernard Levin.
